*There is a possibility that this exhibition's schedule may be modified in order to prevent the spread of the COVID-19.

April 24 (Sat.)- June 6 (Sun.), 2021

The Adachi Museum of Art was opened in 1970, housing the life-long art collection of Adachi Zenko, an entrepreneur native to Shimane Prefecture. The museum is well known for its excellent collection of modern Japanese-style paintings, such as the works of Yokoyama Taikan. Additionally, this museum features a large Japanese garden, allowing both domestic and oversea visitors to enjoy the beauty of the garden and the art works at the same time.

This exhibition will showcase artworks from the Adachi Museum of Art’s extensive art collection created by 35 different artists who were active in Tokyo and Kyoto, the centers of the Japanese modern art movement. These artists include Yokoyama Taikan, who was the central figure of the art scene in Tokyo, Takeuchi Seiho, who led the art scene in Kyoto, as well as Uemura Shoen, Kawai Gyokudo, Yasuda Yukihiko, Sakakibara Shiho, and others. Each of these artists has created numerous innovative art works in their respective area.

Don’t miss this opportunity to see some of the best examples of modern Japanese-style paintings from the Adachi Museum of Art.
