De limpressionnisme à lart moderne dans les collections des musées de Strasbourg

Strasbourg is a city located at the center of the Alsace Region in northeastern France near the German border with as many as 10 museums and art museums housing a varied and exquisite collection of artworks. Among these museums, the Musée d’Art Moderne et Contemporain de Strasbourg (opened in 1998) is known as one of the largest art museums in France, home to some 18,000 artworks from Impressionism to contemporary art in its collection.

This exhibition follows the development of modern art from Impressionist painters to 20th century art pioneers by showcasing a wide array of artworks from the Musées de Strasbourg.

Featured in the exhibition are landscape paintings from Impressionists such as Monet and Sisley, coloring and artistic touch of Post-Impressionism painters such as Gauguin, Signac, as well as depictions of art models from Rodin, Carrière, Laurencin and Picasso. The exhibition also introduces the development of modern art from different perspectives with artworks from Cubism, Abstraction, and Surrealism movements.

Visitors are able to enjoy around 90 pieces of art from Strasbourg that range from painters vital to the development of modern art history to painters with connections to the Alsace Region.
