Using the Studios

Studios 1 & 2

These are studios located within the museum that “everybody can use”. Visitors can make use of the tools and equipment located within the studios to create art at their leisure.

Studio Opening Hours

9:30AM - 4:00PM

(Lunch break is from 12:00PM - 1:00PM. We ask all studio users to stop their work during this time and take a break for lunch.)

Studio Closures
  • The studios are not available when the Miyagi Museum of Art is closed.
  • The studios may be temporarily closed for events/event set-up or equipment maintenance.
  • Access to the studios may be partially restricted when in use by visiting school groups.
  • If you wish to use the studios, please check the Museum Calendar on the Japanese webpage before your visit.
Usage Fee

Free of charge.

(A participation fee may be charged for events held within the studios.) 

Rules of the Studio
  • Please bring the materials you need (wood, ink, paint, chemicals, etc.)
  • Please clean your workspace and tools that you have used before leaving the studio.
  • A variety of tools and equipment are kept within the studios. Please show be considerate and share them with other users as needed.
  • Please bring only non-sugary bottled beverages that can be sealed with a cap into the studios.
  • Only studio users may eat their lunch in the studio space. Please eat your lunch between 12:00PM and 1:00PM. 

Studio 1

Work that generates noise and dust may be carried out in this room. Woodworking, ceramic, and sculpture tools are available.

 

Studio 2

Work carried out in this room must not generate noise or dust. Copperplate etching, lithography presses, and painting tools are available.
