Nihon Ceratec Co., Ltd. was established in 1987 in Izumi-ku, Sendai to carry on and develop ceramics related technologies possessed by Nihon Cement Co., Ltd. (Taiheiyo Cement Co., Ltd.).
Primarily, our company specializes in manufacturing and supplying ceramic parts used in semiconductor and liquid crystal fabrication equipment and piezo electronic ceramic parts used in digital consumer electronics. We are also proactively tackling the ceramic composites business.
Our strength resides in our material development capacity and our possession of the world’s first class high precision processing technology.
Due to our high level of technological development, backed up by learning developed under the guidance of Tohoku University senior professor, Tadahiro Omi, we are in a position to provide our customers with the materials they demand and with high precision processing technology at all times.
We have three reasons for choosing this location. The first is Miyagi’s devoted enterprise attraction policy. The second is the abundance of human resources and the third is the existence of Tohoku University. Especially, the last reason was the most important for us.
We have been developing an extremely good relationship with Tohoku University, which has traditionally focused on practical learning and actively carries out technical support for local businesses. We hold regular study meetings with them and, whenever necessary, our research and development team visits the university, where we receive support and advice from many professors, including Professor Tadahiro Omi himself.
It is said that cooperation between academia and business is difficult for small and medium enterprises, but that is not the case. There are two types of cooperation: one is denominated "seeds type", in which academic research results are taken as a point of departure, and "needs type", in which the value added of products already on sale is increased by adding academic research results to those products. In the case of "seeds type" cooperation between academia and business, there is a big chance of success, but along with that comes the risk of the "Death Valley". We believe the secret to success is that "needs type" cooperation between academia and business is more suitable for small and medium enterprises that are not strong or are not in a position to take risks.
On the human resources front also, we are very pleased. We hire local high school graduates. They are obedient and diligent. We can also receive various kinds of support from administrative bodies; locating here really feels like the right answer.
In March 2006, the company became listed in the First Section of the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
From now on, together with aiming at new growth, we will work at honing our technological development capacity, the source of our earnings.
