Sendai
 
Lord Date Masamune, a cultured man for his time, founded the City of Sendai. His influence remains throughout the entire city. Even today, visitors can walk the same paths and admire the unchanged scenery that Lord Date created.
Now more than one million people live in Sendai, but there is a lot of nature in the city. Jozenji-dori Avenue is located in the central part of the city, this street makes us feel relaxed. so this street makes us relax. In the winter this street is illuminated with hundreds of thousands of lights from December 12 to 31. The moment when all the trees are suddenly lit up is particularly moving.

The Sendai Tanabata Festival is a very famous festival in Sendai. It is held from August 6 to 8. Colorful streamers made from "washi"(Japanese rice paper) are attached to bamboo poles in this traditional Japanese festival.Over 1500 of these decorations brighten up the main streets of Sendai. A fireworks display is held on the eve of the festival, and nightly parades are held throughout the event.

Ruins of Sendai Castle
 
Statue of Date Masamune <BR> Date Masamune constructed this castle in 1603, and it was a residence for several generations of the Date family. There was no tower. The castle was destroyed after the Meiji Restoration, but the big steel gates that were moved from Hizen Nagoya Castle and Sumiyagura were kept. However, they were burned down in an air raid in 1945. This area has a park today, Gokoku Shrine, a monument to Bansui Doi's Kojo-no-Tsuki, a Toson Shimazaki poem monument, the Akitada monument, and a statue of Date Masamune riding a horse stand where the main area used to be.
Date Masamune (1567-1636) His warrior name was Dokuganryu (one-eyed dragon), and he controlled the Ou region. In 1591 he was ordered by Hideyoshi Toyotomi to move from Dewa Yonezawa to Mutsu. He established a base at Tamatsukuri-gun Iwadeyama and began constructing a new castle in Sendai in 1600.

Zuihoden
 
Zuihoden A mausoleum and ancestral shrine for Lord Date Masamune, the founder of the Sendai clan. The original construction was of the gorgeous and splendid Momoyama style, and designated as a national treasure, but was burned in the bombing during World War II. The current "Zuihoden" was rebuilt after the war.

 
Jozenji-dori Avenue 
Jozenji-dori Avenue The Avenue of Zelkova Trees has long been a symbol of Sendai. In winter, countless fiery lamps light up the avenue for the beautiful Sendai Pageant of Starlight.
 

 
Shrine
Osaki Hachimangu Shrine
Osaki Hachimangu Shrine The Osaki Hachimangu Shrine, built by Lord Date Masamune, is said to have been modeled after Kyoto's Toyokuni Shrine. It is the oldest structure ever built in the Toshogu style known as gongenzukuri. The shrine pavilion is a designated national treasure. The oil press device in front of the shrine pavilion is designated as an important cultural property.

Toshogu Shrine On the north side of Sendai Station. The main hall, Chinese gate, gate with two armed gods, and the shrine gate are designated as important national cultural assets while the purifying building is designated as a prefectural tangible cultural property.

Sendai City Museum
 
Sendai City Museum Explains the history and arts of the Sendai region. Don't miss the information about Date Masamune and the "Information about the Delegation to Europe in the Keicho era," which is designated as a national treasure.

 
The Miyagi Museum of Art
 
The Miyagi Museum of Art The works by Japanese artists housed in the museum are Japanese-style paintings and oil paintings, along with sculptures and crafts dating from the Meiji Period and after that have some connection to Miyagi Prefecture or the Tohoku region. Overseas works on exhibit include masterpieces by Kandinsky, Klee, and Schiele as the well as a collection of French and Italian posters dating from the late 19th century to early 20th century. Architecture by Kunio Maekawa. There is a large inner courtyard, and a studio inside the building is available for use by the general public.

 
Sendai International Center
This is an international conference center that includes a main hall accommodating 1,000 people, 12 large, midsize, and small conference rooms, and a display and reception hall.
